Byron Park District Nominating Petitions Available

The Byron Park District Board of Commissioners announces two board seat vacancies to be open in April 2021 for a six-year term. The Board of Commissioners consists of five members. Current members include Bruce Boyle, Judd Griffith, Scott Jeffrey, Rachel Oracki, and Jeff Wilmarth. Bruce Boyle and Rachel Oracki have terms expiring in April 2021. The Board of Commissioners meets regularly on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. and at other dates deemed necessary by the Board.
Qualifications and residency requirements for those interested include that you must be a registered voter and a resident of the Byron Park District for at least one year prior to the election. Nominating petitions are available beginning September 22, 2020 at the Byron Park District Office located at 420 North Colfax St., Byron, IL 61010 during regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
A minimum of 25 signatures of qualified voters residing within the Byron Park District boundaries are required for a candidate to file a petition. Petitions must be filed in the same office between Monday, Dec. 14, 2020 and Monday, Dec. 21, 2020 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Petitions will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on the last day of filing. In addition to the filing of the petitions, prospective candidates must complete, sign and have notarized a statement of candidacy, statement of economic interest, and a loyalty oath (optional). A packet of the required forms can be obtained at the Byron Park District Office.
